Happy St Patrick's Day

Unbelievably, Paddy's day has already been and gone and Easter is hurtling towards us like a high speed train. Spring is truly here with cherry blossoms flowering, a welcome warmth in the air and the sounds of kids voices as they finally get to play outdoors. Our day care schedule changes somewhat with the better weather as we attempt to incorporate more outdoor activities and learning into the daily timetable.
We move the classroom outside and, using natural materials, teach our subjects under the sky. Nature provides our educational equipment and becomes a topic of much lively discussion. After a long winter cooped up (mostly) indoors this is a welcome time of year.
Continuing our enjoyment of the lovely weather we took our son to see the local Paddy's day parade and he was mesmerized (oblivious to everything except motorized vehicles….trucks, diggers, cars!!). The streets were thronged with families (many of whom were clients of my day care) enjoying rare, quality, recreational time together. Watching them, knowing that most of them worked and therefore time spent with their children was sparse and precious I felt so thankful for my situation. My son was enjoying just another day with mom and dad thanks to my day care business which enables us to be home, be self employed, be with him.
I'll say it again…..priceless!
