Challenging Behavior…..again!!

I have a student of child care (hi Mary!) who contacts me from time to time with comments and questions. Today she sent me the following email:
hi,
as part of our communications, we have to do a mock interview, 1 of the possible questions we could b asked is, how would you handle an awkward parent and/ or child? I have a few points made, but what would you suggest for this answer.

Well, blimey! How long is a piece of string?? If I had a dollar for every time I've been asked that one I could shut up shop and hit the beach! Seriously though, it's a tough un, an old un and a good un! It has been touched on in various articles throughout the site (I'm thinking of the Child Behavior category) and, albeit indirectly, in any articles commenting on contracts and policies (believe it or not these documents, once in place, head off a lot of difficult parent behavior at the pass).
Despite all that, I felt compelled to respond to Mary's question directly…today!! She has spurred me on to pen another bit of an article on this prickly subject. Read it here:
